New Zealand Guide

Where were you born and where did you grow up?
I was born in Lincoln, near Christchurch but grew up in rural Marlborough in a place called Tuamarina.

What are your hobbies?
Hiking of course! Anything outdoors, I also love trail running, cycling, snowboarding and surfing!

Do you have any special talents?
I do make some great pancakes.

What has been your greatest outdoor adventure?
There are too many to count! From hitchhiking through Iran and the ’Stans, to hiking in the Pyrenees, riding horses in Cuba, climbing up volcanoes in Guatemala, surfing in Sri Lanka, to watching the sunset on Everest and cycling in Morocco. The list goes on. Hiking through to Blue Lake in Nelson Lakes National Park in the middle of winter still holds a special place in my heart though! Adventures in your own back yard are tough to beat.

What did you do before you became a guide?
I have spent a fair share of my time travelling the world and also worked in wineries across New Zealand, Australia, Spain and England.

Do you have a favourite quote?
If there’s something you can do about it, do it. If there’s nothing you can do about it, then don’t worry about it!

Describe a life experience that has shaped you today?
Growing up in New Zealand, the best childhood one could have!

Have you studied beyond school? If so in what?
I studied International Relations and Spanish at Victoria University of Wellington and I am currently studying Paramedicine at Whitireia in Wellington.
